Quest for Joy

Do you remember the last time you did something that really brought you joy? I read a great quote

When was the last time your heart felt really warm? What have you done recently that made you forget the time? What do you truly enjoy and what is your heart's greatest pleasure.

Some of the most contented people I know are the ones who have found a way to spend a good amount of time in things that bring them deep satisfaction. A friend once told me that you derive the most pleasure when you give your life away and at the end of your life you feel truly spent.

As immigrants we relocate with high expectations to make a better life for ourselves and our families. We get into the grind of life, make money and many of us exceed our dreams. At some point each of us can continue this way or face ourselves and wonder if what we are doing is what we truly connect with. We should not be afraid to ask ourselves these questions.  It is the only true legacy we can live for those behind us. If we give everything we have, the next generation will learn to do the same and it will save them years of emptiness and struggling to fill their lives with things that mask the emptiness. Let us truly teach them to dream beyond a dollar sign.  As the saying goes, do what you love and the money will follow.....Try to go for some joy this week.
