E-verify Self Check

On March 21, USCIS launched a free online service that allows individuals to easily check their own employment eligibility status. It is currently available to the residents of the following states

• Arizona
• Colorado
• DC
• Idaho
• Mississippi
• Virginia

If any inconsistencies are found between the information you provide and your department of Homeland Security or Social Security Administration records, self check will inform you of how to correct those.

Once you have confirmed your employment eligibility using self check, you are unlikely to encounter difficulties upon being hired by an E-verify participating employer. According to USCIS No one can require you to use E-verify self check to confirm your work authorization. It is unlawful for an employer to require proof that you have done a self check before offering you a job.
