How Do You Stop A Barking Dog From Disturbing Your Sleep?

I was woken up really early this morning by the barking dogs next door. These dogs are annoying enough during the day with their loud, sharp, incessant barking but to be woken up from deep slumber was sheer hell. And then they would not stop. Up until I left for work, they were still at it. What to do?

So, I am considering one of those devices that apparently emits a high pitched sound, when a dog barks, forcing the dog to stop backing. After a quick search on the internet, I find mixed reviews. Some people swear by these devices, others claim they do not work.

The very informative website, www.barkingdogs.net, reviews a number of devices including the "Bark Stop" and the "Good Neighbor Barker Breaker". The former device is audible only to dogs but the latter is audible to both dogs and humans. Well, I would not want to be a nuisance by "barking at the neighbors" so I am not sure why any one would use the latter, unless it is to prove a point which I would not advise. Things may get ugly.

The website has a lot of good information including sections on "Barking Laws" and "Dog Training workshops" that are useful for both the person affected by the dog barking and the owner of the barking dog.

If anyone has dealt with this problem, please let us know how you resolved it.

Have a quiet day.
