Have You Gone For Your Preventative Care Visit?

Preventative care is routine health care that aims at avoiding disease. The goal is to keep the patient informed about their risk and also catch any conditions early enough for effective treatment. The visit includes:
  • Screenings
  • Check-Ups
  • Counseling
  • Immunization
The new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act allows for free preventative care only every US health plan under certain requirements such as
  • Age and gender specifications
  • Visit limits
  • Services performed at the time of visit
  • Risk factors
Depending on your age, the following services are recommended
  • Cancer screenings
  • Obesity screening and counseling
  • Cholestrol testing
  • Blood pressure testing
  • Type 2 diabetes screening
  • Tobacco use screening and counseling
  • HIV screening .........etc

Don't forget, your physicians office cannot charge you copays, coinsurance amounts or deductibles effective Jan 1 under the new healthcare act. Any preventive, annual, service falls under these guidelines...no matter what private insurance company you have. This only applies to in-network providers and does not apply to physician visits for an illness or a problem.
