3 Million Dollars in 30 Seconds!

I missed most of the Super Bowl Ads (and yes, this year the going rate was $3m per half minute) as I was busy playing hostess to some wild and crazy football fans. Note to self and anyone listening out there – if you want to watch the game, don’t be the host!

But back to the game. Some Ads made me laugh. Others were uplifting (Chrysler/Eminem Ad). And one tugged at my heart.

The Coca Cola Border Crossing Ad reminded me that even though the world separates us by geography, by history, by religion, by culture, by money, by class, by education, by gender, by race, by tribe, by any criteria you may wish to apply, there are many things that we have in common.

Not only does one guard offer the other one a Coke, but they work together to get the drink across the “border” so that the second guard can actually enjoy the drink.

In that simple gesture of sharing a favorite drink, they recognize each other's humanity and that should inspire us to do the same every day.

Think not of the things that divide us, but look for the things we have in common, the things we can share, the simple every day things that remind us that we are all human.
